VINTAGE BRASS DRINKING VESSEL|Magar, NEPAL
A vintage brass drinking vessel traditionally used by the Magar people in the Rukum region of western Nepal.
These vessels were used for drinking Chang, a fermented beverage made from grains such as millet or rice, and Raksi, a distilled spirit, both enjoyed in everyday life as well as during celebrations and ceremonies.
Each vessel is formed by hammering sheets of brass, with a gently flared rim and a simple form shaped by its practical use. Decades of use have left variations in surface wear, fine scratches, and natural oxidation, giving each piece its own character.
Today, it can also be used as an incense burner, flower vase, or small container.
