Gundri Water Grass Seat Cushion
Gundri is a traditional woven grass mat used by the Tharu people of southern Nepal. Based on its construction, these 35 cm and 45 cm square seat cushions are custom-sized by mrak.
Handwoven by two artisans using cattail-family water grass, the thick fibers create a dry, smooth surface with natural cushioning. Lightweight and rollable, it can be used as a seat cushion or as a mat for vessels and everyday objects.

35 cm｜approx. 35 × 35 cm｜approx. 250 g
Compact and easy to carry. Choose 35 cm for a chair or stool, as a portable seat cushion, or when you want a smaller mat for objects.
45 cm｜approx. 45 × 45 cm｜approx. 350 g
More generous around the seated body. Choose 45 cm for everyday floor-seated use or when you prefer more room around you. It can also be rolled into a simple pillow.

Floor seating → 45 cm
If you are choosing primarily for sitting on the floor, 45 cm is the more comfortable choice. Choose 35 cm when compactness and portability matter most.

As each piece is handwoven from natural materials, variations in color, texture, dimensions, shape, weaving and finish may occur.
This product is not reversible. Please use the front side.
With exposure to sunlight and age, the color gradually changes from green to beige, while the fibers naturally settle with use.
Before sale, each piece is treated with boiling water, wiped on both sides with natural alcohol and inspected.
Care & Maintenance
Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture and store in a dry, well-ventilated place. Its characteristics and care are similar to traditional Japanese goza and tatami.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
- Avoid prolonged use in highly humid environments or leaving the product damp.
- If it becomes wet, wipe away moisture and dry thoroughly with air circulating around the entire item.
- Do not leave it tightly rolled for long periods in a humid place. Unroll it periodically and check its condition.
- If mold develops, wipe it with a cloth lightly dampened with alcohol and dry the entire item thoroughly.
- If insects are found, treatment with hot water at approximately 60°C (140°F) or above is possible. Thorough drying afterward is especially important.
