Talieng HARVEST & STORAGE BASKET｜DARK

A bamboo harvest and storage basket handcrafted by the Talieng people of southern Laos.

The basket reflects bamboo-working techniques and traditional structures passed down among the Talieng and has been used for carrying and storing harvested produce.

Its distinctive features include a finely woven structure with intentionally spaced sections and a form that gradually narrows toward the base. Parts of the basket are reinforced with natural fiber cord.

Stored in a traditional home with a cooking hearth, prolonged exposure to wood smoke has gradually developed the deep color and natural tonal variations of the bamboo.

【Individual Characteristics】
・The opening is slightly oval.
・The basket sits without wobbling, although it may appear to stand at a very slight angle.
・Parts of the basket are reinforced with natural fiber cord.

【Please Note】
・The basket has been treated once with hot water.
・Exposure to wood smoke creates natural variations and unevenness in color depending on its position and duration of exposure.
・Soot has been removed as thoroughly as possible, but small traces may remain. Please take care to avoid transfer to white walls or clothing.
・As the basket has been stored in a space with a traditional cooking hearth, a smoky scent may remain. Minor marks from storage may also be present.
・As each piece is made entirely by hand, variations in weave, form, and finish will occur.
・Colors may appear slightly different depending on the photography and display environment.
