Tai・lue HAND-CARRIED BASKET
Handcrafted from bamboo by a Tai・lue artisan in northern Laos.
The basket follows a form that has long been passed down among the Tai・lue people and is thought to have been used for harvesting and storage. It is made by an artisan we met while visiting his village, who inherited the techniques and designs from craftsmen of his grandfather’s generation and has been working with bamboo for approximately 20 years.
The basket features a rattan-reinforced handle and a stable, self-standing base. Its wide opening allows items to be placed in and removed easily, making it suitable for indoor storage as well as shopping and carrying everyday items outdoors.
Its tall proportions accommodate objects such as wine bottles, baguettes, and long-stemmed flowers or branches. It can also be used to carry a set of tea utensils.

・As the baskets are stored in a space with a traditional cooking hearth, a subtle smoky scent may remain.

【Insect Care】
No chemical insect treatment is applied in order to preserve the natural qualities of the material. Each piece undergoes inspection and heat treatment twice in total, at the place of production and in Japan.
If insects are found, immerse the basket in hot water above 60°C for 5–10 minutes, then allow it to dry thoroughly in the shade.
※ Please avoid prolonged soaking, as it may cause deformation.
