Its proportions also work well on shelves and low cabinets, or as a base for displaying objects.

Woven from Himalayan nettle (Allo), the cloth has a subtle natural sheen, durability, and quick-drying properties. With continued use, its initial firmness gradually softens, while the texture, tone, and luster develop greater depth. Neither overly delicate nor coarse, Allo has a distinctively balanced texture that harmonizes naturally with materials such as wood, clay, and metal.

This piece brings together traditional techniques from two distinct regions: the Himalayas and Amami Oshima, Japan. At an Oshima Tsumugi dyeing workshop on Amami Oshima, the cloth is dyed three times with techi (Rhaphiolepis umbellata), followed by the island’s distinctive mud mordanting process, and finished with one final techi dyeing—a total of five dyeing processes. Through this traditional botanical dyeing process, layers of deep brown, grey, and black come together to create a rich, dimensional dark brown.

＿

Size：33 × 95 cm Material：Himalayan nettle (Allo)

Dye：Techi (Rhaphiolepis umbellata) / Mud mordant

Color：Dark brown

Please note: Each piece is made and dyed by hand, and variations in color, dyeing, weave, shape, and dimensions may occur.
